Time & Location

Apr 18, 2026, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

White House Farm, 1917 Kauffmans Mill Rd, Luray, VA 22835, USA

About the Event

Come help us support the Trash Free Shenandoah initiative by removing debris from the 1-mile portion of the South Fork which runs through the White House Farm property. We will be working along the riverbank to pick up all manner of debris, which will be consolidated and properly disposed of. We will also be working to remove invasive plants from the riverbank, including garlic mustard and wineberry.

This activity is suitable for volunteers aged 13+. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Location: White House Farm in Luray, VA. Detailed parking directions will be sent to you via email prior to the event.

Attire: Please dress for the weather, and be prepared for conditions along the riverbank including mud, low tree branches, thorns, and ticks. We recommend wearing long pants and socks, and tucking in all clothing items.

Supplies: Please bring a pair of thick work gloves to protect your hands. If you'd like to participate with invasive plant removals, feel free to bring a pair of garden clippers or loppers. Trash bags and buckets will be provided.

Refreshments: Please bring your own reusable water bottle. We will provide light snacks and drinks to enjoy after the cleanup.

RAFFLE: Don Roberts, owner of Front Royal Outdoors, has graciously donated a beautiful Old Town 106 kayak to be raffled to one lucky person who registers, signs in, and works at a Trash Free Shenandoah cleanup. This is a gorgeous kayak that comes with a 45-lb. thrust 12V saltwater-ready trolling motor that will get you where you need to go! It has a powerboat-style throttle for intuitive forward and reverse and includes a built-in battery meter. Perfect for anglers, birders, photographers, and anyone else wanting to quietly enjoy the river.
